Registered Agent Services
A registered agent for your LLC
Every LLC needs a registered agent: a person or company with a street address in its state who receives legal papers and the state's notices for it. When PressUp files your LLC, PressUp's registered agent can be yours, and what it receives comes straight to you.
$99 a year. The first year is paid with your LLC filing, then each year with its yearly renewal.
What you get
What PressUp's registered agent does
- An agent in your LLC's state, named by Palm, PressUp's filing partner, when PressUp files your LLC
- Its street address on the public record, instead of yours
- Legal papers and the state's notices it receives, in your checklist and your email
- Legal papers served on your business flagged as urgent
- The agent's name and address as filed, shown in your checklist
How it works
Chosen with your LLC filing
-
1
Choose "PressUp files it for me"
In Business Formation, have PressUp file your LLC, and choose PressUp's registered agent on the order form.
-
2
Your LLC is formed
Once the state accepts your LLC, the agent's service starts, and its name and address show in your checklist.
-
3
Its mail reaches you
Each legal paper or notice the agent receives for your LLC arrives in your checklist, and you get an email.
When your LLC's yearly renewal ends, the agent resigns with the state. Name a new registered agent before then: an LLC must always have one.
Questions
Before you start
Why do owners hire a registered agent?
The agent needs a street address in the state, with someone there during business hours to receive legal papers. Hiring one keeps your own address off the public record, and means nothing is missed while you're out: missed papers can cost your LLC its good standing.
Can I be my own registered agent?
Many owners can, with a street address in the LLC's state where they can receive legal papers during business hours. That address then goes on the public record. This is general information, not legal advice: your state's rules decide.
Can I use it for a business I formed elsewhere?
Not yet. Today PressUp's registered agent comes with an LLC PressUp files for you.
What does it cost?
Its yearly price is shown on the order form before you pay. The first year is paid with your filing, then it renews each year with your LLC's yearly compliance.
What happens if I stop?
The agent renews together with your LLC's yearly compliance, so turning off renewal in your checklist ends both. When it ends, the agent resigns with the state: name a new registered agent before then, since an LLC must always have one.
